"Terminations" a wire vessel

"Terminations" is a wire vessel about 2 1/2 feet tall. It's made from a little over 1oo ft. of flattened copper wire. The technique used is braiding. Forty eight interwoven strands make up the body of the piece. Another Six strands are used for the woven lip of the vessel. The woven lip and the wrapped base are new developements for me in this venue of working, hence the title.

Survival in these trying times

I've been involved in a discussion about pricing our work lately. I really don't like looking for formulas that relate to our artwork. The things we do have more to do with passion and vision than they do with the MBA's approach to business. Those of us in the discussion finally came to the same conclusion, " Long term sustainability has much to do with creating and filling niches in the market place." It's not an accident that I've lead the topic in this direction. I've been looking to a new paradigm, a fresh, innovative, insightful method of doing this art business. I think I've found it in a site called Trend Hunters. com and in a book not yet released. not yet published. This is fairly significant. The whole concept behind hunting for trends is to be ahead of the crowd and be able to capitalize on that advantage. "Exploiting Chaos" by Jeremy Gutshe
proves to be an exciting opportunity to rethink our reactions to the world around us. Check this out today http://www.exploitingchaos.com/sneakapeak/68

All balled up

The following are four ways of many possible to make a metal ball form or bead. They represent possibilities. They can be made small and strung like any other bead or made larger and used as scarf ties, or nekerchief slides. Other uses could be, a ball on the grip of a goblet or candle stick, the top of a railing, a ball in the middle of a walking stick. They would all be considered forged forms. Patina and plated options are also endless. Enjoy Brad

Evidences: "Influence"

"Influence" There are evidences of the maker of these artifacts, me, being influenced in his design by other makers of relics. LMD (localized metal deformation) is used to texture areas. The form becomes more organic less geometric. The piece is a reminder of shield forms.
